ARES Meetings are held after the DETARC Club meetings at the old Armory on Tulane Drive across from Kiwanis Park, the 4th Thursday of the month at 7 PM.

Everyone interested in supporting our community with emergency communications is welcome. New Hams and old heads alike are encouraged to participate.

Emergency Net operating protocols are different from every day radio conversations, what we Hams call “Rag Chewing”. That’s why we practice our emergency operating protocols.

We hold classroom training sessions, have written information available on procedures and protocols, and hold Simulated Emergency Test (SET) exercises to prepare members to support our City and County Emergency Managers during emergency incidents such as tornados, hurricanes, floods, and wild fires.

We also provide communications support to some community events as a public service and to practice our net operations protocols.

For further information contact the ARES Emergency Coordinator.
