Deep East Texas Amateur Radio Club (DETARC) will be holding a Special Event at the Texas
Forest Museum in Lufkin, TX. The radio club will have multiple radio stations set up in the
beautiful red caboose located on the back of the museum property near the forest tower. The
purpose to the event is to have fun, educate the public about amateur radio and the local radio
club, as well as bring attention to the wonderful and dedicated Texas Forest Museum and staff
that we have in our community. We will be broadcasting on multiple HAM radio bands and
attempting to make as many contacts as possible throughout the day and will very likely have
contacts that span across the North American continent and beyond. We invite the general
public to visit the museum on this day and enjoy the wonderful exhibits as well as stop by the
big red caboose and check on our progress as we work to bring the world, via amateur radio
waves, to the Texas Forest Museum.
