More about the

Deep East Texas
Amateur Radio Club

The Deep East Texas Amateur Radio Club, Inc. is a registered 501c3 Charitable Tax Exempt organization, and is Incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas.

DETARC members come from diverse backgrounds and occupations, but all have  in common an enjoyment of Amateur Radio and a desire to provide Community Service. Many of our members participate with organizations like the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES®),  the National Weather Service's SkyWarn program, and the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES).

Local Amateur Operators have assisted the community by providing alternative communications means for events such as the Neches River Renezvous, the Pineywoods Forest Festival, the Pineywoods Purgatory Bike Race. Communications assistance was also provided to the community in the evacuation efforts during Hurricane Lili, where Amateur operators manned area shelters and the City EOC. Local Amateur Operators also provided assistance during the Shuttle Columbia Recovery effort in 2003, and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.

In addition to the Club's and other local Amateur operated repeater systems, emergency Amateur Radio communications equipment is maintained at Lufkin City Hall, Memorial Health Systems, Woodland Heights Medical Center, Angelina County and Cities Health District,  and the American Red Cross Service Center for our authorized use during times of emergency.

Membership is not required to attend our meetings nor must you be an Amateur Operator to join our Club. Currently dues are $12 annually. DETARC dues are waived for your first year if you choose to also join the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) through our Club and have not been an ARRL member for the past 2 years.

Join us at a meeting and see what DETARC and Amateur Radio are all about!
